Cherish: Unlock the Power of Appreciation

In today’s fast-paced world, we often get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We have so many things to do, so many goals to achieve, so many problems to solve. However, in the process, we may forget to take a moment to appreciate the things that truly matter. We may neglect to cherish ourselves, our relationships, our moments and experiences that bring us joy and happiness.

What is ‘cherish’? It is the power you have within you to appreciate yourself and the ones you care for. To cherish means to hold something dear, to care for it deeply, and to protect it fiercely. It implies a strong emotional attachment and a desire to preserve something very valuable to us. In other words, it is our ability to appreciate and value what is important to us.

Cherishing the things that matter most is an important part of living a fulfilling life. It helps us cultivate mindfulness and gratitude, which can improve our mental and physical health. It also helps us strengthen our bonds with the people we love and care about, which can enhance our social and emotional well-being. For instance, I cherish my family because they are always there for me, supporting me through thick and thin. I make sure to express my love and appreciation for them every day, by spending quality time with them, listening to them, and helping them whenever I can.

As the famous author Leo Buscaglia once said, “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” Therefore, let us not take anything or anyone for granted. Let us cherish ourselves and others, and express our inner power and beauty through our actions.

One of the most important things we can cherish is our relationships with others. Whether it’s a romantic partner, a family member, or a close friend, our relationships bring us joy, support, and companionship. They also help us grow as individuals and learn from each other.

However, cherishing our relationships isn’t always easy. It takes effort and commitment. We need to be willing to listen, communicate openly, and work through conflicts. We need to be there for each other through thick and thin. We also need to show them that we appreciate them.

How can we do that? There are many ways to express our gratitude and affection for our loved ones. We can spend quality time with them, share our thoughts and feelings, give them compliments and gifts, help them with their needs, and respect their boundaries. We can also surprise them with small gestures of kindness, like a hug, a note, or a phone call.

For example, I cherish my best friend because she has been with me since childhood. She knows me better than anyone else and always supports me in everything I do. I make sure to tell her how much I value her friendship every day, by sending her messages, calling her regularly, and planning fun activities together.

As the famous poet Maya Angelou once said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Therefore, let us not take our relationships for granted. Let us cherish them and make them feel loved and appreciated.
